The following is from the Fairview High School website. It is a column written about the upcoming baseball season.

The Fairview High School Yellow Jackets will be looking for a great year in baseball for this season. Although we lost seniors that contributed to a lot of the starters we still have good players to fill the spots of those that have graduated. Returning starters are Jarin Stafford, Matthew Regier, Tyson Hiebert, Dillon Baldwin, and with a lot of playing for the Yellow Jackets include Jeff Smith, Derrick Fast, Logan Nightengale, Bobby Garrett, and Tanner Dillard and Jared Penner will be contributing again this year. The other Yellow Jacket members that will have to help contribute to filling the holes that we have from last year include: Alex Barrett, Dalton Day, Evan Fast, Aaron Helm, Tye Judd, Chase McGolden, Baron Reese, Gavin Boyer, and other possible players returning from freshman. The Yellow Jackets will be coming off of a good year and 2nd place in the Fairview Tournament. Since the new classifications have came out of all the classes Fairview has dropped to class 2A and are expecting a lot of great things from this talented team and will hope to fill all the holes with experienced young players. Although you can’t base positions as early as now based on how hard everyone works but they will be looking at a good core of seniors including Jarin Stafford in left field and pitches, Jeff Smith with good experience in the outfield and also in the infield, Derrick Fast with good infield skills has the ability to play third or first, Dillon Baldwin with good infield at short and also pitching and Jared Penner is looking to contribute to the outfield as well. Matt Regier will occupy the outfield as well as infield spots including pitching, Logan Nightengale is a good infielder as well as pitcher, and Bobby Garrett also with infield skills and pitching skills. The solid core coaching staff with much experience in their career hopefully added much success this year include Coach Monty Hayes and Coach Titus Burrell. The Yellow Jackets will have a tough schedule ahead of them but have many winnable games. With much success and hard work that many team members of the Yellow Jackets had added this summer they are looking at good experience from their bats and their infield/outfield and pitching work.
